Lost and the Damned - Keltinax, Headsman of Khorne

First in a series for the special characters for the Lost and the Damned fandex, today we look at Keltinax, Headsman of Khorne.  Keltinax is the special character version of the Mutant Warlord HQ choice, and is built as a close combat monster, literally.  He's essentially a cyber-shaggoth, a centauroid mutant whose lower half is akin to a Juggernaut, boosted by Khorne's gifts and blessings.

As with all of the ones in the coming days, I welcome your thoughts especially with regard to appropriate pricing.

Steampunk Officially No Longer Cool

I hate to be the one to break it to any steampunk fans, but it's over.

I went to see Arthur Christmas with sonofsonsoftaurus today (which is a pretty good movie), and before the movie they had a video for Justin Bieber's rendition of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".  The video and especially the Biebe's outfit is thoroughly steampunk.  All he needed was goggles, but I guess that it's hard to pout in goggles. I couldn't find a full-length video yet, but the below snippets should give you an idea.

Sorry.

But, other than that, Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans!  And happy whatever to the rest of you lot!

Tears of Sanguinius - Renegade Blood Angels

Among the numerous renegades that have gravitated into the orbit of the Endless Ones are a number of traitorous marines from the Blood Angels chapter and their successors.

Collectively known as the Tears of Sanguinius, they retain much of their Blood Angel associated iconography though they are now in the sway of She Who Thirsts, Slaanesh.

Rather than being driven mad by the Black Rage, the Tears view it as a blessing, being driven to heights of rapture through experiencing their primarch's agonies.  Unlike most other renegades who turn their backs on their origins, the Tears still revere their primarch for the gifts he bestowed to them in death.

The Tears of Sanguinius also have a secret goal in their service to Chaos.  They seek to gain control over the Talon of Horus, the weapon that felled their primarch and triggered the resulting ecstatic torments they enjoy due to their link with him.  The Tears believe that with the proper rituals, the Talon can be used not only to enhance their own bliss, but to bring more of the sons of Sanguinius into the arms of Slaanesh.  However currently the Tears are divided on how best to obtain the Talon - some wish to gain enough power to attack the Black Legion directly, while others believe the better path is to join with Abaddon's forces until they have the opportunity to betray him from within.

As Many as the Stars in the Sky...

OK, not quite that many.  But recently the blog hit the mark of 200 Discriminating Readers, thanks a lot folks!  Glad the new folks saw something they liked, and that the old-timers are still hanging around.  Hope you still like what you see and aren't just too lazy to unsubscribe. ;-)

Today I also went back through the past several months and updated the Battle Reports tab.  I was surprised how many games I actually got in over the last few months!  I'm going to go back over those myself soon, life's been a blur lately!

Thanks again folks!  The next few weeks will be pretty hectic, but I hope to get some more Space Sharks glued together and maybe even get a game in.  Then December should see some serious progress!

Battle Report - Trenchant Criticism - Scythiak Usurpation vs. Pilgrims of Rust

I decided to blow off schoolwork for a bit and headed down to Hobbytown for a rare Saturday excursion.  It was great seeing and chatting with some folks I rarely get to hang out with, and got a game in with Aaron of Skies of Flies Ground of Rust .

We had been vaguely starting a small league, and pulled out our 1000pt forces to throw down.

The Purging of Kadillus - Review Part 2

Finished the book this morning, overall pleased with it.  Part 2 will be pretty short.  Most of the themes carry over from Part 1, so no need to go there again.  SPOILERS AHEAD!

The Purging of Kadillus - Review Part 1

I'm part way through The Purging of Kadillus, by Gav Thorpe. I recently was pleasantly surprised by winning this as a prize from sons of thunder. As fate would have it, Gav was the "random guest" at The Overlords (dot co dot UK) podcast this week, though they didn't discuss the book. It's a good episode, check it out!

On to the book.

Space Sharks - Born to be Wild

(apologies to Steppenwolf)

Get those xenos runnin'
Heads bouncin' on the highway
Lookin' for some traitors
Or whatever comes our way

Yeah Sharks are gonna make it happen
Take your worlds in our embrace
Fire all of our guns at once and
Finish off some race

Claws of smoking lightning
Heavy bolter thunder!
Coming from the void
Gonna drag you under

Yeah Sharks are gonna make it happen
Take your worlds in our embrace
Fire all of our guns at once and
Finish off some race

Space Sharks - We'll Bomb Your World and Melt You Too

Knocked out a couple more tacticals, the heavy and special weapons troopers.

Space Sharks - More Tactical Marines

I managed to squeeze a little bit of modeling time in, and cranked out assembling two more tactical marines for the Space Sharks.  A massive accomplishment, I know.

Purge the Unread!

Through good fortune I just won a copy of the book on the left, supplied by the generous nature and good graces of Sgt. Brisbane over at sons of thunder .  Especially if you like Terminators, go check him out!

I had a choice between this and Fall of Damnos, but since my last couple of battles featured Orks vs. Dark Angels and that's the subject of TPoK, I figured that it was an appropriate pick!

Maybe some new 40K fiction is just what I need to inspire me back at the paint station!
